my hidden gem is an old abandoned quarry near to our house. Last year we took up geocaching and found loads of new walks in our area. We had walked past this certain quarry loads of times but never seen it infact we didnt even know it was there. But my father in law was certain it was as he said he played there often as a child. So after talking to a few neighbours we ventured up the hill and a little off the beaten track to find a sunset filled pool of crystal blue water. You cant get down to it anymore however there is a little wooden boat thats obviously been there some time at the bottom. We sit on the rocks above and bask in its glory! This is in Steeton in Yorkshire we are blessed to live amongst such gorgeous hidden gems :)

My Hidden Gem is the Ty Coch Inn, Porthdinllaen, a small coastal village on the Llyn Peninsula, North Wales, with views across a sweeping bay to Yr Eifl and the Snowdonia mountains. Built in 1823 and only accessible for visitors across the beach or across the (very challenging!) golf Links on top of the windy headland. Or by boat! It has been dubbed one of the best beach bars in the world, coming third. Top of the list was a bar in Jamaica! So peaceful, with views and sunsets to die for. Customers step bare-footed from the beach to the bar's sandy floor, mingling with yachtsmen and fishermen as it is also a working fishing harbour, famous for herring, mackerel and lobster. Heaven on earth!

I went around with some friends on the little red motorbikes we'd hired (got them SO muddy, sorry hire guys), and enjoyed the beautiful scenery, gorgeous and cheap food and best of all sliding down a waterslide waterfall into a pool. The slide was made of smooth rocks and the local kids were playing there too. Good times.

My hidden gem is a hotel called Bordubet in Turkey. Tucked away along a rough track, many miles from a main road, it is completely remote and isolated - no shops, no bars, no passing coachloads of tourists. The hotel is slightly inland, amid lush, beautiful gardens with lots of comfortable, secluded spots to relax in sunshine or shade, and a small river runs through the grounds. Transfers to the private beach are made along this river, gliding through kingfisher-inhabited red beds out to the beautiful Adriatic coast. A truly magical place I keep on returning to again and again.

My #HiddenGem is Roy's bus, officially known as The Pit Stop on the A96 north of Inverurie. It is a bus which has been converted to a tiny cafe. I took a friend from London there, and despite the clue in the name (Roy's BUS) she said "Oh, its a bus!" I think she was expecting some trendy airstream thing. Sister, you are in the wrong place. I can never work out if they make a fortune, because the place is always busy, or make very little because the prices are so cheap. Anyway, stop off for some builder's tea and a bacon and egg roll, 70s style!

Just off Dane Street in Dublin (where you're not far off Christchurch Cathedral and the Guinness brewery), you'll find an AMAYONNAISING little café called the Queen of Tarts. The name says it all - hands down the most delicious cakes, scones, pancakes and treats of all variety you could imagine. If you go on a Saturday, you'll have your cakes right in the middle of a gorgeous artisan market which surrounds the café. Go go go!
